Artist, Singer, Composer, and Producer of All The Things

 

Trained in rondalla music by Bayani Mendoza de Leon, Bryan has music directed Filipino folk dance performances locally and internationally as Music Director with the LIKHA Pilipino Folk Ensemble. As a performer, he was featured as Tatsuo Kimura in the Bay Area premiere of the musical "Allegiance." Bryan served as an artist-in-residence at Brava Theater and is a San Francisco Arts Commission Artist Grantee to compose “Larry the Musical" about the life of Filipino American labor leader Larry Itliong.

A professional fundraiser for more than 25 years, he combines his passion for social justice and the arts to support and grow programs that amplify the voices of underrepresented communities. Bryan holds a BA Ethnic Studies from the University of California San Diego and M.Music from San Francisco State University, and serves as the Director of Fund Development with the Filipino American Development Foundation. He founded his music production company Pink Parrot Studio LLC and co-founded Larry the Musical LLC with Gayle Romasanta to produce new artistic works about the Filipino American experience.

Bryan is driven by integrity, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to advancing social justice through the arts.

Bryan was honored to join Brava Theater as an Artist in Residence to co-compose the first musical about Filipino American labor leader Larry Itliong with Gayle Romasanta, fusing his influences in folk, opera, classical, and musical theater styles. The musical is based on “Journey for Justice: The Life of Larry Itliong” by Dr. Dawn Mabalon and Gayle Romasanta.

  • Larry the Musical was supported by the San Francisco Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Center for Asian American Media, the Danilo Soriano Foundation, the Zellerbach Family Foundation, Theatre Bay Area and our community of supporters and donors.
